Pacers win opener 130-121 in OT; Myles Turner with 30 pts 16 rebs

INDIANAPOLIS –  The Pacers opened the 2016-17 season in style with a 130-121 overtime win against the Dallas Mavericks. The second year man Myles Turner had coming out party with 30 points and 16 rebounds.  Turner hit a late three pointer to solidify the Pacers lead.  Paul George added 25 points and Teague 20 as well.  All five starters were in double figures and Pacers scored more points in the season opener than they did at all last season.  This Pacers tempo and pace will be fun to watch all season long.  The Pacers biggest lead was 14 and Dallas late only late in the game and by 1 point.  Indiana did have 16 turnovers which will need to cut down to 8-9 nightly to continue to stay in the win column.

With the offensive explosion, there were issues defensively that the Pacers need to fix.  The Pacers made Deron Williams look like a superstar as he was picking and rolling all night long against Teague and Ellis.  This is not typical under a Dan Burke scheme and I am sure that they will watch film and fix the deficiencies.

1 Down…..81 to go.    May have been ugly defensively, but the offensive explosion sends all the Pacers fans home happy !!  Pacers are back in action on Friday at Brooklyn.

Pacers set to make “Huge Announcement” on Wednesday ; All Star Game ?

INDIANAPOLIS –   On Monday afternoon Pacers insider @ScottAgness announced on his Twitter that the Pacers will be having a press conference on Wednesday to make a “huge announcement”.   When you hear huge announcement, several items come to my mind.   Here is a list of things it could be.

#1 –   Indianapolis hosting 2020 NBA All Star Game

#2-   New Uniforms to to commemorate the 50th Anniversary

#3-  Paul George signed extension

These are a few options I think they may announce.  Should be exciting with the new season starting later this week vs the Mavericks.

Pacers exercise ’16-’17 option on Myles Turner

With no surprise on Tuesday morning, the Indiana Pacers exercised their option on C Myles Turner for next season as reported by Hoops Hype.  This is no shock as Turner has shown great promise last season and in the preseason.  The Pacers drafted Turner in 2015 to fill in the void when the Pacers traded away Roy Hibbert.  Turner has shown that he can handle himself with the bigs and had a good 2016 playoffs against Toronto.  Big things are expected in year two for the big man and I think we will see more growth.
